Retail, leisure and commercial destination

TraffordCity is a thriving retail, leisure and commercial destination in the heart of Greater Manchester, attracting around 40 million visitors a year. The area offers a suite of existing attractions and developments including the Trafford Centre, Trafford Retail Park, AJ Bell Stadium, EventCity, City Airport as well as future propositions such as Trafford Waters and Therme presenting a number of exciting prospects.

TraffordCity is a brand that has become synonymous with adventure and fun and the attractions available at the Leisure Village are central to this.  These include Trafford Golf Centre, the North’s leading Golf Centre and driving range and Dino Falls Adventure Golf, one of the UK’s biggest adventure golf courses.  Also situated at the heart of TraffordCity is Beyond, home to Chill Factore, the UK’s longest indoor real snow slope and a number of additional leisure outlets including Play Factore, Breezeboard Pro, hoverboard centre and indoor climbing as well as complementary food and drink and retailers such as Dare2B, Subvert Boardstore and Nandos.

The area is also home to a number of other commercial and retail clusters.  This includes Bridgewater Industrial Estate; Venus office development; the Williams BMW Retail Centre - the £41m flagship retail centre for BMW, MINI, Land Rover and Jaguar; Trafford Retail Park - home to brands such as Dunelm and B&M; as well as large operators such as B&Q, Asda and CostCo. The retail park enjoys 100% occupancy and plans for a phase two development will bring a new 19,000 sqft Aldi and a 1,800 sqft Starbucks drive through to the offer.  These commercial and retail operations are complemented by a range of facilities including numerous hotels offering 900 bedrooms and the award-winning Kids Allowed nursery which boasts the first green roof at TraffordCity.

Built on reclaimed industrial brownfield land and bounded by both the Bridgewater and Manchester Ship Canals, TraffordCity capitalises on a truly sustainable location.

The anchor commercial office block Venus, was built to BREAAM standards and is one of the first in the country to be independently verified as Net Zero Carbon using the UK Green Building Council’s definition.  EventCity, Venus and Holiday Inn Express have 100% waste diverted from landfill and is either recycled or goes into energy recovery.  Further to this there are 10 EV charging points coming online at the Venus Building soon.

Inclusive travel and connectivity are core to the success of the destination. As well as excellent road links, the Metrolink tram line now connects TraffordCity to the City Centre and other key economic and visitor destinations such as MediaCityUK, Manchester United and Trafford Park in an investment costing £350m.

Further investment in sustainable transport infrastructure has taken place on the Bridgewater Way, the 39 mile Bridgewater Canal Towpath. This path provides a safe off road cycle route for commuters and visitors to TraffordCity. In addition, an extensive bus network serves up to 350 routes across Greater Manchester and the region
